Those of us who could use a mouth of teeth a few shades brighter can certainly be thankful for this.
Many dentists these days recommend tooth whitening gel, a safe and effective way to whiten teeth. You use them in tandem with mouth trays which you put your teeth. It really does not take much gel to do the job. There are two main types of gel, each of using a form of peroxide.
The first one is carbamide peroxide bleaching gel. This gel is lighter strengh and thus can be worn for longer periods of time, even over night. Just make sure those mouth trays are nice and snug.
The other kind is hydrogen peroxide bleaching gel. This is a little more hardcore and should never be used all night. One hour per day is enough for this treatment. It does the job well.
When you are using these tooth whitening gels, you may experience sensitivity in your teeth and gums. That is a normal occurrence, but if your teeth become too tender you should consider doing the treatment for a less amount of time or stopping for a day or two before starting up again.
